Violet Ray Generator & Spectrum Tubes Posted by: hp2114b
Video duration: 87 seconds Here's a video of us lighting up some antique spectrum tubes with a BD-10 violet ray generator. The fill materials from top to bottom are: hydrogen, helium, neon, mercury and water vapor. We probably should've turned up the generator when we struck the mercury-filled tube, but we didn't want to torture these geriatric devices too much. VTA Model 600 Dekatron Tilt & Spin (Sylvania 7155) Posted by: hp2114b
Video duration: 32 seconds This is a custom implementation of the Model 600 Dekatron Demonstrator, built by our lead engineer. It makes use of a rare Sylvania 7155 computer counter, a high speed dekatron in a miniature envelope. Note the use of tilt sensors for speed control. This demonstrator uses the same drive circuitry as our standard Model 600. Visit our website at http://www.decadecou nter.com/ Related: counting, dekatron, nixie, spinner, tube |

Simple Jacob's Ladder Posted by: hp2114b
Video duration: 61 seconds Here is an improvised Jacob's ladder constructed from a 12,000V 30ma 'Franceformer' neon sign transformer and 27K 2W wire-wound resistor. The electrodes are obviously made from wire coat hangers. The electrode wobble is caused by the spark itself, which is about 8cm long at maximum. Hewlett-Packard LED Demonstrator Posted by: hp2114b
Video duration: 49 seconds This is a HP LED demonstrator from the early 1990's. Note the silicon carbide (SiC) blue LED's. The demonstrator is set at 5mA of current, displayed on the bitmapped green display at the bottom. Wimshurst Machine Posted by: hp2114b
Video duration: 27 seconds Here is our cheap Chinese-made self-starting Wimshurst electrostatic generator in normal operation. Each of the two electrostatic plates have 32 sectors. The spark shown here is approximately 9cm in length, and this machine is capable of producing sparks in the 12cm range. VTA Model 600 Dial-A-Dekatron (Sylvania 6909) Posted by: hp2114b
Video duration: 31 seconds Here's a fantastic dekatron testing system designed by our engineer Richard Kline. The system uses our standard Model 600 GTC driver coupled to a custom universal octal test socket, equipped with rotary switches for quick reconfiguration. The tube is a Sylvania 6909 high speed bidirectional counter. Visit our website at http://www.decadecou nter.com/ Related: counting, dekatron, nixie, spinner, tube |

VTA Model 600 Dekatron Dialer (Sovtek OG-4) Posted by: hp2114b
Video duration: 26 seconds Not to be confused with our Dial-A-Dekatron, this is a dekatron dialer, built from our Model 600 dekatron demonstrator and a standard rotary telephone dialer. The dekatron shown is a Sovtek OG-4 2kHz counter. The glow position advances the same number of places as the number dialed.
