Pre-Calculus Lesson 4.1 part1 Posted by: themathmaster
Video duration: 424 seconds I am setting the stage for introducing exponential and logarithmic functions by revisiting inverse functions. This is a sample of what we do at FMI. I am nervous being on camera and I am sure math teachers can pick up a few mis-spoken terms. Beyond that, I hope to help shed light on the troublesome section called, "logarithms". Related: algebra, fmi, function, inverse, lesson, math, mathematics, pre-calculus, themathmaster |

Business Calculus Chapter 3.5 Lesson 1 Posted by: themathmaster
Video duration: 548 seconds This is from a Business Calculus class I teach on-line. The book is "Applied Calculus" by Waner/Costenoble 4th ed. The application of calculus to business, economics, and real world situations is stimulating for those who enjoy the practical side of math. Check it out and let me know what you think. A fun proof: -1 = 1 Posted by: themathmaster
Video duration: 152 seconds This is just a fun problem I found in an old Algebra book. I like it mostly because it cause one to carefully consider their math properties. It appears that the proof is consistant with a true initial assumption but leading to an obviously false conclusion. There is a faulty step. Can you find it? Also, I mistakingly said that this proves -1 = -1. I meant to say -1 = 1. Enjoy Related: mathematics, negative, one, proof, themathmaster |

Business Calculus Chapter 4.3 Lesson Part 1 Posted by: themathmaster
Video duration: 547 seconds This is an excerpt from a lesson I taught on the derivative rules for exponential and logarithmic functions. I take time to review the nature of both functions and then describe the derivatives. Part 2 continues the rules and includes a few examples. Enjoy.
